News 16 October 2023 The Barnabas Centre has been given the prestigious ‘Quality in Action Award’ from Action Together. Read the press release here. 22 December 2022 The gym at the heart of Teen Thrive! is commissioned. 11 November 2022 The Centre receives a display fridge from Fareshare, to distribute more food to local people through the Food Thrive project. 9 November 2022 We completed the renovation of the nave in the church, to enable greater community participation. 20 October 2022 A group from the community payback scheme cleared and renovated an external yard, which will be used to grows food for the Food Thrive project. 10 July 2022 Our new community worker, MaryAnne Oduntan, is licensed in a short ceremony during our usual Sunday service. 5 June 2022 The deputy Lord Lieutenant, Dr Shauna Dixon, gives the Vicar a cheque for £2,500 from the Manchester Guardian Society Charitable Trust. 27 July 2022 A community payback team help with the clearing and polishing after the major electrical work of replacing the lights in the church. A massive thanks to Oldham Community Fire Service for overseeing this work. 25 July 2022 The Oldham based firm Croft Electrical complete the installation of new lighting in the Church.

Funding updates 8 March 2024 The Charles III Charitable Fund awarded us £4,500 over three years from its ‘Coronation Food Project’ to provide food for the food Thrive! pantry 18 March 2024 Oldham Council awarded us has awarded us a grant of £2,000 (from the Department for Education) to deliver a HAF (Holiday Activities Fund) holiday club in early April. 23 January 2024 Oldham Council has awarded us a grant of £1,167 to install a defibrillator. 15 January 2024 Action Together has awarded us £790 to purchase a new washer–dryer to support the new Clean Thrive! programme. 16 October 2023 Oldham Council has awarded us a grant (from the Department for Education) to deliver a HAF (Holiday Activities Fund) holiday club in early January. 10 October 2023 The Council for Social Action has awarded us £30,000 over three years to enable us to expand the Thrive project, specifically expanding the project into other local churches. 12 July 2023 Action Together has awarded us £5,000 from its ‘Household support Fund’ to establish a small grants programme for local families suffering from the cost-of-living crisis. 15 May 2023 The National Lottery Fund has awarded us £9,074 to refurbish a long, decrepit storeroom, to facilitate the Food Thrive! Programme. 8 May 2023 Oldham Council has awarded us a grant (from the Department for Education) to deliver a HAF (Holiday Activities Fund) holiday club in July and August. 20 April 2023 The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund has awarded us £600 to refurbish a long, decrepit storeroom, to facilitate the Food Thrive! programme. 9 March 2023 The Holiday Activities Fund (HAF) has awarded us £3,000 to fund holiday activities over Easter for local children. Each session includes much free food. 11 October 2022 The Diocese of Manchester has awarded us £5,000 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation. 16 September 2022 The National Lottery Community Fund (‘Reaching Communities’) has awarded us £86,740 which funds out community worker for three years. 18 August 2022 The Bernard Sunley Foundation has awarded us £5,000 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation. 12 July 2022 The Allchurches Trust (part of Benefact) has awarded us £3,000 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation. 9 July 2022 The Council for Social Action has awarded the Church £5,000 for wages, to appoint a community worker. 5 July 2022 The Manchester Guardian Society Charitable Trust has awarded us £2,500 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation. 23 June 2022 The Greater Manchester Voluntary and Community Organisation has awarded us £750 toward the cost of chairs, for refurbishing the Parish Room in preparation for Teen Thrive! 17 June 2022 The One Oldham Fund has awarded us £24,357 to refurbish the Parish Room, and to purchase equipment for Teen Thrive! 10 May 2022 The One Stop Community Fund has awarded us £1,000 for Food Thrive! 14 March 2022 First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) has awarded us a Reaching Our Communities award of £780 to allow Women Thrive! to purchase six Chromebooks. 4 March 2022 The Garfield Weston Foundation has awarded us £7,500 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation. 18 February 2022 The National Lottery Fund has awarded us £7,550 toward the cost of replacing the lights and sound system in the Church, to enable greater community participation. 11 February 2022 The One Oldham Fund has awarded us £10,00 toward the cost of refurbishing the chancel and Church and Parish Room, to enable greater community participation.
